Riley International Adoption Program at IU Health exists to provide comprehensive services to families who are considering adoption or have adopted, from another country. The mission of our program is to assist children and their families in growing strong and resilient through the experience of international adoption. We support you and your family in accomplishing this through an individualized and comprehensive plan focused on evidence-based and trauma-informed perspectives. To assist you, we provide multidisciplinary supports through a wide range of Pre-Adoption Services and Post-Adoption Services.
When an orphaned child joins a forever family through international adoption, two worlds and cultures are united. While orphaned children often times share similar backgrounds, each child responds to early-life stress experiences differently. Every child comes to their new family with their own personal history that impacts medical, developmental, social-emotional and behavioral functioning. In addition, each parent welcomes the new family member with his/her own hopes, dreams, beliefs and experiences. When families and children embark on the journey of building a healthy relationship, each family and individal member has distinct needs. Our team is here to help you and your family generate a plan thta fits your familiy best from the time you are considering adoption to addressing questions and concerns post-adoption.

If you are a parent who has already adopted a child, our expert medical-mental health Post-Adoption Services provide a number of options to support you at the time of inital adjustment through long-term at every stage of your journey.
