International Adoption Clinic (IAC)
International Adoption Clinic (IAC) provides a comprehensive medical evaluation, with special emphasis on issues related to physical and psychosocial development, infections, immunization, nutrition and growth, birth defects and adjusting to a new family. The speech and language pathologist/feeding specialist is available for consultation and recommendations as needed during the clinic visit. Recommendations for ongoing management will be shared with your primary care provider, and arrangements can be made for consultations and services with other Riley specialists and experts in the community. Multispecialty Clinic
The multispecialty clinic provides the services of the International Adoption Clinic (IAC) plus a consultation with the psychologist. The psychologist is available during this visit for a wide range of questions. This clinic is particularly helpful for families who have questions about their child’s developmental status or cognitive ability, bonding and attachment as a family, adjustment of child and/or other family members, childhood stress and trauma, or psychological concerns.
STAR (Stress, Trauma, Attachment and Resilience) Clinic
STAR is designed for families who do not need to see a medical provider but have questions or concerns to discuss with a clinical psychologist with nationally recognized expertise in international adoption. This clinic is open for children of all ages and for families in all stages post-adoption. Questions or concerns families bring to clinic often include but are not limited to the child’s development, attachment, adjustment, previous stress and trauma impacting functioning, or specific behavioral and/or diagnostic concerns. A full range of services from initial consultations and education, cognitive and developmental evaluations, full trauma-informed psychological evaluations, as well as child and family treatment are available. STAR also regularly conducts case consultations for children who are already in treatment with another mental health provider. The consultation is requested by and coordinated with the current provider in order to refine and enhance current services. In that case, treatment recommendations will be shared with the current treatment provider.
Given the nationally recognized expertise the International Adoption Program provides, our team has received requests for consultations from families outside of Indiana. We are available for these consultations on limited basis, based on careful review of the circumstances and clinician availability.
