Cromolyn Sodium

Action:

Cromolyn Sodium is a long term medication that appears to work on lung cells to prevent the release of histamine and other chemicals that lead to an asthma episode and lung inflammation. It lessens the lungs response to certain asthma "triggers".

How to Take:

Cromolyn Sodium must be inhaled. It may be inhaled by using a metered dose inhaler or by an aerosol nebulizer.

Possible Side Effects:

  • Throat dryness or irritation, bad taste in mouth, cough, and nausea.
  • An allergic reaction rarely occurs.
