Helping Children with Support and Guidance

Research and the advancement of psychiatric practice is an essential part of Riley Hospital for Children Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Indiana University Health. We’ve been integrated with the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) since 1940. IUSM is the nation’s second-largest medical school, which makes us part of major research in psychiatric disorders.

Researchers in the IUSM Department of Psychiatry have made important discoveries and contributed significantly to the understanding of psychiatric disorders, including:

  • Addictions
  • Mood disorders
  • Schizophrenia
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Autism

We continue to lead in groundbreaking clinical research. We have active research projects supported by the National Institute of Mental Health, Drug Abuse and Alcohol Abuse. IUSM faculty also has a record of successful partnerships with the pharmaceutical industry for testing and refinement of new medication treatments.
