The Riley diabetes team provides medical care for approximately 2,000 children with diabetes in Indiana. The team consists of doctors, nurses, dietitians and a social worker — all of whom have special expertise in taking care of children with diabetes. The team provides both inpatient and outpatient care and works to create an individualized care plan for each patient. Riley endocrinologists also provide comprehensive care and consultative services for children with endocrine conditions throughout the state.

Pulmonology - #12
The pulmonology team at Riley Hospital treats patients from throughout the Midwest and has a major focus on research into lung development and prevention of lung injury in cystic fibrosis and asthma. Our pulmonologists treat patients with breathing disorders of all kinds, including: asthma, chronic lung diseases and acute breathing problems. One focus is our sleep disorders center and our state-of-the-art, nationally accredited sleep laboratory. Riley provides the state's only comprehensive evaluation and treatment services for children with kidney disease or kidney failure. The team includes pediatric nephrologists, urologists and dialysis nurses. Riley is a leader in kidney transplantation and has worked to perfect a new hemodialysis technology — continuous veno-venous hemofiltration (CVVH).

Riley is one of the highest volume pediatric cardiovascular centers in the country, and research shows higher volumes translate to better outcomes. Riley’s 99.2 percent overall survival rate for cardiovascular surgery is significantly better than the national average of 96.3 percent. This is the highest level of care designation for a NICU, and the Riley NICU is networked with newborn nurseries and other NICUs throughout the state. Patients of the Riley orthopedics program are given access to pediatric orthopedists and orthopedic surgeons who understand growth and the uniqueness of a child’s musculoskeletal system.
