We help children lead normal lives.
Our multidisciplinary team comprises of board certified doctors, therapists and nurse specialists who have dedicated their practices to the care of children with facial differences (cleft lip and palate, Pierre Robin Sequence, syndromic craniosynostosis). Our unit is one of the oldest and most experienced programs in the United States for cleft and craniofacial care. Riley has provided services to patients with facial anomalies since 1933. Our high level of training and staff expertise has earned our recognition as an affiliate with the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.
Our physician specialists are faculty members of the Indiana University School of Medicine. In addition to our long-standing experience and excellent patient care, our unit is actively engaged in clinical research and offers one of the few ACGME accredited craniofacial fellowship training programs in the country.
Why choose us?
Children with facial differences can undergo a variety of procedures and therapies throughout their lifetime. Often, multiple specialists are required to provide comprehensive care. This can be both daunting and intimidating to both patients and families. Our multidisciplinary team will coordinate your child’s care. We will streamline your visits to the hospital so that (when required) multiple specialist can assess your child and provide a unified plan of care. This approach will limit your visits to the hospital while providing a treatment plan constructed by the national leaders of facial rehabilitation. Each child will receive a comprehensive, personalized care plan designed to improve health and ensure quality of life.
We are experienced
Dr. Roberto Flores serves as medical director to our team of board certified specialists and faculty members of the Indiana University School of Medicine. In addition to board certification in plastic surgery, our craniofacial surgeons have completed an additional year of intensive training in reconstruction of the face and skull. Our craniofacial unit, one of the first established in the United States, remains at the forefront of pediatric and facial reconstruction. We continue to define the standard of care for facial reconstruction through publication of our clinical outcomes, regional, national and international lectureship and through active engagement in national and international surgical societies.
We are a regional and national referral center and have 2000 patients in active treatment and an average of 325 new patients referred to the team annually.
We have earned national prominence
Our faculty members have been President of the Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Craniofacial Surgeons, and the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeon and nominated as the Best Doctors in Indianapolis. We have received national recognition for the development of Camp About Face, a week-long residential summer camp for children with facial anomalies, and the Camp about Face Leadership Academy, a companion program for older youth, aged 16-18.
