Injury Prevention is our goal.
Safety Education and Outreach provides safety education, information, resources and safety products for parents, children and educators. A partnership of Indiana University School of Medicine and Riley Children’s Hospital at Indiana University Health, this division specializes in helping prevent injuries and fatalities. Accidents are the number one cause of death for children under the age of 18 in the United States today, and the division of Safety Education and Outreach is committed to helping improve home and outdoor safety for all ages.
The Safety Education and Outreach Division at Indiana University School of Medicine provides free safety education materials, participates in community outreach programs, and runs The Safety Store at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. The Safety Store carries over 150 safety products at low cost for children and adults. The Safety Store personnel are trained technicians and educators who can help parents and caregivers determine what safety products will best meet their needs. Safety Store employees provide free safety assessments, instructions for the proper fitting of equipment, and instructions for installation of safety products. The Safety Store at Riley Hospital for Children also carries safety products for children with special needs.
