Electrical Safety
Certain kinds of electrical equipment such as hair dryers and curling irons that are safe to use in the home are not always safe to use in the hospital. Check with your child's nurse before using any electrical equipment. Battery operated items such as radios and tape players can be used in the hospital.
The use of your own home care medical equipment in the hospital is not necessary. The hospital must use equipment maintained by hospital staff.
Balloons
For safety reasons, latex balloons are not allowed in the hospital. Your child can have mylar balloons. These can be brought into the hospital or purchased at the Raggedy Man Gift shop on the first floor of Riley Children's Hospital at Indiana University Health.
