Adolescent Dual Diagnosis Clinic
Helping Children with Support and Guidance
Children struggling with the double challenge of a psychiatric disorder and substance abuse need structured intervention to help them regain control of their lives. The Dual Diagnosis Clinic is an outpatient treatment program for 10-18 year olds struggling with this difficult combination of problems.
The clinic uses a combination of techniques to help these children, including:
- Diagnostic evaluations
- Individual cognitive behavioral therapy
- Medication management
- Family therapy
- Contingency management to help treat their illnesses
Our director is Leslie Hulvershorn, MD.
When your child enters the program, he or she will be assessed to make a diagnosis and determine his or her motivation for change. The assessment interview also sets the goals of treatment. Following this assessment, your child can probably start treatment within a week or two.
With clear goals, your child’s treatment team works with him or her to select and complete skills modules based on your child’s specific needs. To work toward goals, your child will come to the clinic weekly for 16 weeks. At each session, your child’s team will provide therapy and medication management.
To reach as many children as possible with this program, we accept all payer sources. Our program is also funded through the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction.
