Welcome. We understand how difficult it is to have a child in the hospital. You have many important concerns about the health and welfare of your child. In addition, you no doubt have many questions about Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health and what to expect. The goal of this guidebook is to provide you with information about Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and the services we offer.

Riley at IU Health has a long history of serving Indiana children. Named after the famous Indiana poet, James Whitcomb Riley, the hospital opened in 1924. Riley at IU Health, together with Indiana University Hospital and IU Health Methodist Hospital, make up Indiana University Health. Riley at IU Health is also affiliated with the Indiana University School of Medicine which trains the majority of Indiana physicians.

Each year Riley at IU Health serves thousands of people from Indiana and the entire country. We strive to treat each one as an individual. We believe, as you do, that your child is a unique and special child.

Our staff is dedicated to making your child's stay, as well as the time you spend at Riley at IU Health, as comfortable as possible. From the moment your child is admitted, you are welcomed as a special member of our caring team. Please tell us how to make your child feel comfortable and special. Our staff encourages you to be an active participant in the care of your child and to ask questions.
