Riley Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology at Riley Children's Hospital provides pediatric patients with minimally invasive procedures under image guidance. Our highly advanced interventional suite offers low-dose technology optimal for pediatric imaging.

Who We Are

Our team has the only pediatric-trained interventional radiologist in the state of Indiana, who leads a team of specially trained interventional radiology technologists, nurses and physician assistant. Our many years of clinical and research experience allow us to provide our pediatric patients with the most advanced procedures available in an environment suited specifically to the needs of young patients and their families.

The interventional radiology suite located in Riley Hospital Radiology offers all of the facilities and equipment necessary for all procedures to be fully contained and performed in one location. In addition to our four pre- and post-procedure rooms, the suite has an anesthesia induction room, a family consultation area and a fully digital Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) workstation for reading exams and consulting with referring physicians.

What We Do

Our team performs minimally invasive procedures by utilizing image guidance, instead of surgery to help diagnose and treat patients. Special catheters and wires in smaller sizes and lengths are used to accommodate our pediatric patients. Pain can occur with pediatric interventional procedures, but can be controlled with the use of conscious sedation and general anesthesia. Child life specialists are also utilized to provide distraction during minimally painful procedures.
