Volunteer With Us

Volunteers are an important part of Indiana University Health Saxony Hospital and help us achieve our mission of providing exceptional care. It is not necessary for you to have worked or volunteered in a healthcare setting before. You only need a passion to serve others and a commitment to helping IU Health Saxony Hospital make each and every guest's visit exceptional.

Our Culture of Service

Participating in the care of others requires a special commitment to providing impeccable service and creating an experience our guests will not forget. As an integral part of IU Health Saxony Hospital, all volunteers must be aware of our culture of service and our passionate commitment to exceeding the expectations of those we serve. This commitment is strengthened through a set of core beliefs, our maxims, that we believe must be practiced and observed every day to allow us to leave a positive lasting impression: Show Kindness. Connect Fully. Take Ownership. Create Joy. Do More.

Our Volunteers

We appreciate your interest in volunteering at IU Health Saxony Hospital; however, we do not have any volunteer openings at this time. Please check again later. Thank you.

Traditional Volunteers: Anyone 18 or older and not in school is considered a traditional volunteer. Traditional volunteers usually serve one three-hour shift per week. New volunteers must agree to at least a six-month commitment, although many of our volunteers have been dedicating their time to our patients for years.

Student Volunteers: Student volunteers are either in high school and age 16-18 or college students age 18 and over. All students must commit to working at least 72 total hours. You can complete your 72 volunteer hours in these ways:

  • One three-hour shift per week for 24 weeks
  • Two three-hour shifts per week for 12 weeks during the summer
  • Three three-hour shifts per week for eight weeks during the summer

High school students are limited to working in nonclinical areas, and there is no deadline for when you can apply. Many people apply for volunteer positions and there are not always assignments available. We appreciate our volunteers, and you are invited to check back at a later time if no assignment is available when you first apply.

Team Member Volunteers: Full-time, part-time and supplemental team members of IU Health Saxony Hospital are crucial to assisting IU Health Saxony Hospital in providing exceptional care. If you have an interest in volunteering for IU Health Saxony Hospital outside of your normal work hours and department, please contact us for more information.

Your Commitment

Most volunteer positions at IU Health Saxony Hospital require a minimum six-month commitment (minus family vacations, illness or other special situations) unless otherwise noted. We assign volunteers to a specific department, day and time to allow relationship building between team members and volunteers.
