Stroke Care

Timing is everything when it comes to stroke. The team of physicians, nurses and medical professionals at IU Health Bloomington Hospital is ready to care for victims of stroke 24 hours a day.

We are proud to be a Primary Stroke Center, certified by the Joint Commission. This means that IU Health Bloomington Hospital is dedicated to providing high quality stroke care. Our team has worked to streamline our processes and ensure consistent standards of care, so that no matter when a patient comes to us experiencing a stroke, you receive the same level of high-quality care. Whether it is 2 am or 2 pm, our team is prepared to care for you.

Supporting Patients Following Stroke

After leaving the hospital, recovery from stroke often continues. For these stroke survivors, IU Health Bloomington hosts the Stroke Education Series/Support Group, open to all stroke survivors and their loved ones. Our stroke program educator leads the group and each session covers a different topic from our expert guest speakers. Time will also be available during every meeting for discussion where survivors and their loved ones can ask questions, or share successes or challenges.

The Stroke Support Group meets the first Thursday of each month from 1pm – 2:30pm at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. For more information about Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital Stroke Support Group, please call 812.353.9300.
