The Indiana University Health Melvin & Bren Simon Cancer Center not only provides the highest level of patient care, but is also specifically focused on research and education. IU Health Melvin & Bren Simon Cancer Center is the only patient care cancer center in Indiana to receive the National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation, recognizing the facility for scientific excellence, discovery and development of more effective approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and for educating healthcare professionals and the public.

Multidisciplinary Care for Patients

We provide multidisciplinary treatment from nationally- and world-renowned expert specialists in each area of cancer care. This care team works with patients and their loved ones to develop the best course of treatment.

This team may consist of surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurses, dieticians, physical therapists, geneticists, plastic surgeons, spiritual care chaplains, social workers and pharmacists.

Our goal is to ensure your patients are seen in a timely manner in a welcoming and reassuring environment. The cancer care team educates patients about all of their options, while ensuring that referring physicians are kept informed about the treatment plan.

Research

IU Health Melvin & Bren Simon Cancer Center physicians are focused on providing the latest technology to battle cancer. Researchers are constantly looking for the newest ways to diagnose, treat and prevent cancer through clinical trials, research and collaboration with organizations such as the National Cancer Institute and Hoosier Oncology Group. As an academic health center, IU Health also works in partnership with Indiana University School of Medicine to train the next generation of physicians and combine breakthrough research and treatments to offer patients the highest quality of patient care.
