Mark Guffey, DO

Board certified in Emergency Medicine

Dr. Guffey is board certified in emergency medicine. He received his medical degree from Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine where he also completed a rotating internship with a residency in emergency medicine and internal medicine. Dr. Guffey currently serves in the major medical core for the United States Army Reserve. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association. 

Kimberly Irvin, DO

Dr. Irvin is a board certified in Emergency Medicine. She received her doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. She is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Moore earned a medical degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, Ca. He then participated in an emergency medicine residency at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Moore is board certified in emergency medicine.

Benjamin Zachar, DO

Board certified in Emergency Medicine

Dr. Zachar joined our Emergency Medicine team from Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, Mass.  He earned his medical degree from NOVA Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Dr. Zachar is credentialed in Emergency Department ultrasound.

Advanced Practice Providers

 

Karen Farrar, NP

Karen has worked as a registered nurse since 1993 caring for adult and pediatric patients in a variety of hospital settings, including Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care. She recently completed a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Ball State University and is now a Family Nurse Practitioner with experience in primary care of adults and children. Karen is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, a Member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana.

Julie Frey, PA

Julie completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and a Masters of Science in Kinesiology at Indiana University followed by an additional Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science and a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Butler University in Indianapolis. Her clinical experience has ranged from a medical assistant at a walk-in clinic to Clinical Exercise Physiologist. Julianne is a member of the American Academy of Physicians Assistants and the Indiana Academy of Physician Assistants.

Raven Nix, NP

Raven earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Indianapolis with a specialization in Family Medicine. In addition, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus. Raven has served as a staff nurse in Critical Care units as well as Medical-Surgical units and has completed training in adult primary care, pediatrics and Emergency Medicine.

Kimberly Vogt, PA-C

Kimberly Vogt, PA-C has been practicing Emergency Medicine since 2003 when she graduated from Kettering College of Medical Arts in Ohio. She later earned her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska (2005). She has also received a specialty certification in Emergency Medicine from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. In addition to working full-time at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital Emergency Department, she also serves as a First Lieutenant in the Indiana Army National Guard.

She lives in Bloomington with her partner, April, and their son, Bennett. She enjoys cycling, reading, watching soccer and spending time with her family.

Atiq Zamani, PA

Atiq is a physician assistant in the Emergency Department at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from Earlham College, a Master of Science degree in Biology and Biotechnology from Ball State University and a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Indiana State University.

In his free time, Atiq enjoys playing soccer and coaching.

Sally Stroud, NP is a family nurse practitioner. She graduated with her master of science in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN. Prior to completing her master’s degree, she worked as a nurse in the areas of emergency, obstetrics, medical and surgical, and home health.

Sarah Whiteman, NP

Sarah Whiteman, NP is a family nurse practitioner. She graduated with a master of science in nursing from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Sarah also earned a master of science in social work. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked as a hospital clinical supervisor at Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital.

Richard Eisenhut, MD

Dr. Eisenhut is board certified in internal medicine. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Indiana University and earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Michael Rominger, MD

Dr. Rominger is a residency trained and board certified Emergency Medicine provider. He earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and a Master of Business in Health Systems Administration from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has extensive experience in all phases of urgent and emergency care within complex health systems. He has an interest in providing patient-driven, evidence-based, cost-effective care. He is a diplomat on the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Harpreetinder earned his medical degree from  in certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Trauma Life support (ATLS). He is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Mary Smith is board certified in emergency medicine. She received her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Smith completed an emergency medicine residency and research fellowship at Wright State University in Dayton, OH. Dr. Smith is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Melissa is a registered nurse and a certified nurse practitioner. She completed her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing at Indiana University. She is a member of the Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana.

IU Health Paoli Hospital


David Beachy, DO

Dr. Beachy finished his Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree in Des Moines, Iowa in 1980 and Family Practice residency in Peoria, Illinois in 1983. He worked in Family Practice and the Emergency Department in Paoli from 1983 until 2000 when he, his wife and three teenage daughters moved to rural Kenya where he worked at a medical mission hospital. Sixteen months later, they returned to Paoli and he has been full-time in the Emergency Department since.

Dr. Beachy and his wife attend the Paoli Mennonite Fellowship. He remains interested in world affairs and enjoys rural living, currency trading, and spending time with family.

Richard Flint, MD

Dr. Flint is board certified in emergency medicine. He earned a medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He then completed a residency in emergency medicine at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Marlene Greenberg, MD

Dr. Greenberg earned her medical degree at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, and then completed a Family Practice Residency. She is board certified in family medicine and has been a full time emergency medicine doctor for 10 years.

Debbie Hall, MD

Dr. Hall was born in Paoli, Ind. and grew up there. She graduated from Purdue University in 1982 with a degree in Medical Technology. After graduation, she worked as a medical technologist and then laboratory supervisor at Bedford Medical Center and Edgewood Clinic in Bedford. She worked in the laboratory for 13 years during which time her three children were born. During this time, Dr. Hall decided she wanted to be a physician and child advocate for the children in her area of southern Indiana.

She began medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1995 and completed her degree in 1999. After medical school, she completed her residency in pediatrics at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Ky and is board certified in Pediatrics. She practiced pediatrics for 12 years in Bloomington before joining the Emergency Medicine team at IU Health Paoli Hospital.

Dr. Hall lives in Paoli with her husband Stanley.  She has three children and 2 grandchildren, and she loves it when all of her family are together.  Her hobbies are horseback riding and camping, knitting, cooking and gardening.

Sherri is a family nurse practitioner certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner’s. She obtained a Master’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Indiana and a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana University Southeast. She has worked in hospitals including the specialty areas of oncology, dialysis, diabetes education, occupational health, worker’s compensation, and infection prevention.
