Scar Revision

Scar Revision

In the blink of an eye, facial injuries resulting from falls, dog bites, glass and more can change the appearance and function of a person’s face and neck. You don’t have to live with unsightly scars that may cause abnormal movement or function. We see a large volume of patients desiring scar revision. We offer the most up-to-date techniques to restore function and correct skin changes caused by injury or trauma.

Choosing Scar Revision

We offer a comprehensive plan for scar revision. We use the latest surgical and topical medical techniques available to improve or reduce the appearance of scars and restore function caused by an injury, wound or previous surgery.
The fact is, the sooner a patient seeks treatment for a scar, the better the outcome. We start by using the latest suturing techniques to repair the injury for optimal healing. We offer:

  • Dermabrasion: surgical technique offered under local anesthetic or numbing agent. Using a high–speed, rotating brush, the top layer of skin is removed in order to reduce depth of scars.
  • Geometric broken line closures: purposely suturing with irregular lines, which are less noticeable to the human eye.
  • Laser resurfacing: application of high-energy, amplified light waves of carbon dioxide to vaporize the top layer of skin instantly, with no bleeding and minimal trauma to surrounding skin.
  • Topical medication: a topical regime, including silicon gels and steroid injections into the scar itself, combine to reduce the appearance of scars.
