From highly complex cases to common emergencies, the IU Health University Hospital ER sees all patients in need of emergency care. Our nationally recognized programs in transplant, cancer and digestive disorders make IU Health University Hospital known for its expertise in these areas. Therefore, we frequently see cancer patients and transplant patients when they need emergency care. Our connection with Indiana University Medical School and its ongoing research is also important to the care we provide.

Our physicians are board certified in emergency medicine. Our nursing staff has Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification, along with team members certified in trauma care. Past experiences at IU Health University Hospital's ER bring many loyal patients back when they need additional care, often passing several other ERs on the way, because they are confident of the care they will receive from us.

Whether patients live nearby or across the state, the community relies on IU Health University Hospital's ER team for the best emergency care available. Primary care physicians often refer patients to our care when they feel the patient needs a higher level of care. IU Health University Hospital's active research center brings many patients to our doors, because of involvement in various clinical trials.

Any ancillary services a patient needs are also available through the vast resources of IU Health University Hospital. Ailments as common as chest pain, migraines or bone fractures are treated with care. LifeLine provides ground or air transportation for patients in need of emergency care.

While things move quickly in our ER, we take time to listen. Even in an environment like this, we remain committed to the dignity of each individual. We treat each person with respect. We talk to each person in plain, everyday language. We maintain your privacy.

We care about your unique needs and those of your family.
