People Mover

The Indiana University Health People Mover quickly transports patients, families, physicians, employees and the public among IU Health Methodist Hospital, IU Health University Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, as well as the IU Health Pathology Laboratory and Fairbanks Hall. Each ride lasts about five minutes, and is free and open to the public.

This elevated, driverless rail system powered by electricity was built to increase efficiency and effectiveness of IU Health's employees and to give Indiana University School of Medicine students easy access to IU Health's downtown Indianapolis healthcare facilities. The People Mover enhances the ability of patients and their families to access IU Health's downtown health care resources.

The People Mover is available 24 hours/day and runs on a 1.4-mile track that heads south from IU Health Methodist Hospital along Senate Ave., west on 11th St. to University Blvd., west on Walnut St. to IU Health University Hospital and west to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.

The Canal Station is located at the halfway point, and is the stop for the pathology lab and Fairbanks Hall. The People Mover can be accessed from the second floor of IU Health University Hospital.
