Colin's surgeon Chandru Sundaram, M.D. is a professor and the director of minimally invasive surgery in the IU School of Medicine Department of Urology. Dr. Sundaram performed the first urologic robotic surgery in Indiana (2002). Dr. Sundaram directs the nationally recognized fellowship in endourology and laparoscopy and specializes in performing daVinci robot assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy for prostate cancer and minimally invasive kidney and adrenal surgery.
Caleb's surgeon William Goggins, M.D. is a kidney transplant surgeon and the surgical director for the kidney transplant program at IU Health. Dr. Goggins was one of the surgeons involved in Indiana’s first kidney donation chain in 2009, which involved eight individuals and led to four people receiving lifesaving kidneys. In May 2012, Dr. Goggins performed his 1,000th kidney transplant since joining IU Health eight years ago.
Kidney transplant medical director Tim Taber, M.D. is a transplant nephrologist and the medical director for the kidney transplant program at IU Health. Over the past four years, Dr. Taber and his team have established eight outreach clinics in Avon, Carmel, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Gary, Lafayette, Merrillville and South Bend to serve patients before and after a kidney transplant. Dr. Taber also serves the chief medical officer for the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization (IOPO).
