In the event of an emergency call 911.
Emergency Services at Indiana University Health West is a full-service emergency department, staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and nurses who specialize in treating adults and children experiencing a medical emergency.
In addition to providing direct ambulance access, IU Health West Hospital also houses a helipad so IU Health LifeLine helicopters can land just steps away if transport is necessary.
Our advanced computer systems work behind the scenes to make each encounter more efficient by creating effective lines of communication between our team and other departments, such as the lab and imaging departments, as well as fast access to patient medical records - as yesterday's care can often affect today's treatment.
Most importantly, Emergency Services at IU Health West is staffed by experts in emergency care who are not only technically outstanding at what they do, but who also understand that patients coming through the department doors are often confused and frightened in addition to being sick or injured.
Emergency Services at IU Health West's management team is actively involved in the local emergency planning committee, which brings together government agencies, hospital resources and emergency first responders. This group works together to coordinate planning for emergencies, such as a terrorist attack or bio/chemical incident.
