Dragstrip Dash

The dragstrip at Lucas Oil Raceway regularly plays host to stunning feats of horsepower. This October, runners will get another chance to burn a different kind of rubber at the iconic track in the second annual Dragstrip Dash, presented by First Merchants Bank and Indiana University Health West Hospital. The event, a competitive 5K and 10K, as well as a kids min-dash, will benefit the education foundations of Hendricks County schools.

Runners in the 5K and 10K races get to hit every course on the Lucas Oil Raceway campus: the road course, the oval and the quarter mile dragstrip. The kids mini-dash is a sprint on the world-famous dragstrip. The runs will take place under the lights with the races called over the loudspeaker, just like during an auto event.

Dragstrip Dash trophies are considered among the most unique in running: a piston from an authentic dragster, donated this year by John Force Racing. Pistons go to the top three finishers, men and women in each race; the fastest quarter mile, men and women in each race; and the fastest boy and girl in the mini-dash.

Guests will enjoy many fall favorites again at this event, like the jack-o-lantern lined course and a s’mores station. Participants and their families are invited to stick around after the event to enjoy fall activities. The concession stands will be open, serving up seasonal favorites!

Race day packet pickup begins at 4 pm, with the kids mini-dash beginning at 6 pm and competitive races beginning at 6:30 pm. The cost to enter the race is $20 and includes an event t-shirt and goodie bag. The kids mini-dash is free. Registration is available online now at dragstripdash.com.
