Emergency Medicine

When you are faced with a medical emergency, Indiana University Health is here to provide immediate, effective treatment.

Indiana University Health White Memorial Hospital Emergency Medicine provides prompt assessment, resuscitation, surgery, intensive care and stabilization of injured patients and emergency operations. We also have access to advanced diagnostic tools and support from lab and imaging services. Our physicians and specialists, who are board certified in emergency medicine, provide all aspects of emergency care. Emergency department services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

We maintain a close working relationship with community-based emergency response teams and air transport providers to ensure ease of access for transfer of patients requiring emergent care in other care locations.

Occupational Health is provided through IU Health White Memorial Hospital Emergency Medicine in conjunction with the Ambulatory Clinic and Laboratory services. These services address the unique needs of today’s employers and their workforce by providing employment physical examinations, drug-testing programs and treatment for injuries sustained on the job.

If necessary, patients can be transferred to one of our two Level I Trauma Centers equipped to treat the most severe and life-threatening conditions - located at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health. Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health is the only pediatric Level I Trauma Center in Indiana and features highly trained teams that specialize in the emergency medical care of infants, children and adolescents.

Through our partnership with the Indiana University School of Medicine, we are improving outcomes for our most critically ill and injured patients through research and clinical trials.
