Chaplain
The Chaplain is an important member of the healthcare team, providing pastoral care to patients, their families and Indiana University Health White Memorial Hospital employees. In a climate of acceptance and concern, he ministers during illness, injury, loss or in times of celebration and thanksgiving.
Interested in the well-being of the whole person, the chaplain helps individuals use their own spiritual resources as they recover from illness. The chaplain draws upon religious traditions, rituals, prayer, Scripture and Sacrament to assist people. The chaplain is available to listen and help individuals address their feelings and spiritual issues.
Ministries and services provided by the chaplain include pastoral care, notification of faith community when parishioners are hospitalized, provision of grief support, listening, prayer, counseling, presence, worship, sacraments and spiritual guidance.
