Randall Yust has 30 years' experience in healthcare finance and operations, serving previously at La Porte Regional Health System in La Porte, Indiana, in the roles of interim president and chief executive officer in late 2004 and as vice president of finance and chief financial officer prior to that. For 13 years—1985 to 1998—Yust served as vice president and chief financial officer for Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso, and from 1975 to 1985, Yust served Community Hospital of Anderson, Indiana, ending his time there as acting chief financial officer. Yust has excelled throughout his career with notable business development and financial success at the hospitals he has served.
Ruth Kain has over 21 years of experience in the nursing field. She began her career at IU Health North Hospital in 2009 as the regional manager of emergency services and the nursing pool. In 2013, Kain was promoted to director of clinical operations at IU Health Saxony Hospital. Most recently, she was promoted to associate chief nursing officer, and served as interim chief nursing officer for IU Health North and IU Health Saxony hospitals before being named to the position permanently in December 2016.
In her role as CNO for IU Health North and IU Health Saxony, Kain serves as the key nursing and patient care administrative officer, providing direction to the delivery of patient care and setting the tone for all aspects of clinical management. She provides leadership to develop and communicate objectives, coordinates efforts to integrate patient care and support services which fulfills the Hospitals’ mission, vision and values, championing a culture of nursing and patient care excellence.
Paul Calkins, MD, is the chief medical officer at Indiana University Health North Hospital. Calkins is responsible for quality of services, continuous quality improvement and communication with various departments and physicians. He also is involved in administrative decision making, and operational and strategic planning for the Carmel facility.
Previously, Dr. Calkins was the service line leader for anesthesia for Indiana University Health Physicians. Prior to accepting that role, Dr. Calkins was the medical director of surgical services at IU Health North Hospital from 2005-2011. He is also a practicing anesthesiologist with Anesthesia Consultants of Indianapolis and continues serving patients in this role while serving as the CMO at IU Health North Hospital.
Dr. Calkins attained his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1984 and completed his residency in 1987 at the Indiana University Department of Anesthesia. He has served IU Health in various administrative capacities since 1999.
Dr. Sheldon Weiss has been a member of the leadership team since November 2013, following 19 years as an OB/GYN practitioner. Dr. Weiss was among the early members of the IU Health North Hospital Medical Staff (formerly Clarian North Medical Center) beginning in December 2005 and he continues to be a member to this day. Dr. Weiss was a physician investor in Clarian Health North Medical Center, LLC (now IUH North Hospital) from 2004 to 2011. From 2005 to 2013 he was a member of the Board of Directors, also serving on the Committee of Finance, Planning and Human Resources during his tenure on the board, and served on multiple committees for North Hospital.
As Chief Strategy Officer, Dr. Weiss is responsible for regional physician growth and development, and growth strategies.
Dr. Weiss earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and went on to complete his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Columbus-Cabrini Medical Center. He has been in an OB/GYN physician since 1994, coming to the region from Chicago. Dr. Weiss was in practice with American Health Network for nine years, and is now a member of the IUHP Carmel practice. Dr. Weiss earned a master’s degree in health care management from the Harvard School of Public Health. He has given many presentations on endometriosis and the need for conservative therapy.
Steven Kile has more than 15 years of experience as a leader in human resources. He comes to IU Health from the Springfield Regional Medical Center in Ohio, where he served as regional HR director, managing the daily HR operations for two hospitals, two long-term care facilities and multiple clinical sites. Prior to that, Kile served in a number of HR leadership positions, including stints at Mount Carmel Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio and St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
Kile has a bachelor's degree from Manchester University, a master's degree in social work from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.
