IU Health North Hospital

For the health and safety of our patients and team members, our valet service is temporarily suspended due to COVID-19.

Patients may be dropped off at either of IU Health North Hospital’s main entrances—entrance C (south) and entrance B (north)—or as directed on the pre-visit information from your doctor’s office. Both entrances are on the hospital’s first floor, take you directly into the atrium and offer covered drop-off locations.

Parking at IU Health North Hospital is free, with surface parking lots conveniently located near each entrance to help patients and visitors get to their destinations quickly. Once inside the hospital, our team at the Welcome Desk will be happy to help you and answer any questions.

We understand that family and friends are important to the healing process. That’s why we have an open visitation policy, encouraging visitors to spend as much time in the room as you'd like, including overnight stays.

If you need help limiting visitors, we are happy to provide assistance and support. Some hospital areas have limited access, and if applicable, these restrictions will be discussed with you when you arrive.

IU Health North Hospital's entry doors are locked from 9 pm until 6 am. During these hours, please push the intercom button (located at each entrance), and a security team member will unlock the door.

Children

Children younger than age 14 must be accompanied by an adult, other than the patient, at all times. Some units may require health screens or have other limitations on children visiting. In general, it is a good idea to check with a guest relations team member before bringing a child as a visitor.

If You Are Sick

For your protection, people should not visit if they are sick, especially if they have a sore throat, cold or fever.

Prohibited Activities

• Smoking is not allowed in any IU Health building or on the grounds
• All IU Health facilities are alcohol and drug-free
• No one, other than IU Health Security Officers or on-duty Law Enforcement Officers, may carry or have in their possession a firearm or weapon while in a IU Health facility

Law enforcement officers should check in with IU Health Security if they plan to carry on premises.

We want to do everything we can to make you and your guests feel safe and comfortable while you are in our care.

An ATM is located on the first floor at the north end of the atrium.

Internet Services

IU Health North Hospital is pleased to provide complimentary wireless Internet access for you, your family and guests. The wireless network is available 24/7 in all areas of our hospital. There’s also a computer with online access in most of our patient rooms. Please note that IU Health cannot provide technical help for your device or connecting to the network.

A mailbox is located on the first floor in the atrium next to the Welcome Desk.

Incoming Mail

Patients may receive mail while staying at IU Health North Hospital. Anyone sending mail to a patient should address the envelope as follows:

Wheelchairs

Our team of guest relations representatives and hospital volunteers will be happy to get you a wheelchair when you arrive at the hospital. Please ask any of our associates for assistance or visit the Welcome Desk.

Retail Pharmacy

Pharmacy services, including prescription refills, are available at IU Health North Retail Pharmacy. Visit our page or contact our pharmacy at 317.688.3035 to learn more about our hours and services.

Therapy Dog Support Program

Both pediatric and adult patients are welcome to request visits from our therapy dogs. To request a visit while you’re a patient at IU Health North Hospital, please contact our Guest Relations team at the first floor Welcome Desk. You may stop by in person or call 317.688.2042.

Each therapy dog and its handler are certified through a national program. They are specially trained and tested to make sure the dogs interact safely with patients of all ages. Once certified, the handlers must complete volunteer training at IU Health North Hospital before their dogs may visit patients.

Parenting Support

IU Health North Hospital is pleased to offer several support opportunities for new parents. Our support groups cover a wide range of topics including breastfeeding, postpartum depression and raising a toddler. Additionally, we offer groups for new mothers looking to share advice with one another. Our support groups meet weekly and are complimentary (free). Participants are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as they would like.

Gift Shop

The Riley Cheer Guild Gift Shop is located in the atrium, near the laboratory waiting area on the first floor of the hospital. The gift shop offers unique gifts for all ages, including jewelry, home décor and clothes, as well as a selection of flowers, balloons, cards, snacks and drinks.

Deliveries

Flowers and gifts may be delivered to the Welcome Desk at IU Health North Hospital. Hospital volunteers deliver these items to patient rooms.

Monday through Friday, 5:30 am - 9 pm Weekends, 8 am - 6:30 pm

Items Not Allowed

For the safety of our patients and staff, latex balloons are not allowed in the hospital, though Mylar balloons are permitted. In addition, poinsettias are not permitted at IU Health North Hospital.

Deliveries for Non-Disclosure Patients

For a variety of reasons, some patients choose to keep their stay in the hospital private. If you have asked us to not tell anyone that you are here by registering as a “non-disclosure” or “no information” patient, our team cannot say that you are a patient at the hospital or accept any deliveries.

There are several dining options at IU Health North Hospital available to patients, families and guests. If you would like to get a breath of fresh air, there are many restaurants nearby. Please visit the Welcome Desk for a full list of dining options near the hospital and to get directions.

Atrio

Daily specials include gourmet soups, pizza, fresh seafood, desserts. A salad bar, made-to-order grill and fresh fruits and vegetables are available daily. Located in the atrium on the first floor of the hospital.

Room Service

Patients staying at the hospital may choose from the Atrio menu and have their meals delivered right to their room. Dietary restrictions can be checked by the operator. Family members and other guests may also order room service meals from Atrio, at an additional charge. Call 317.688.2263. Meals are typically delivered within the hour.
