Veteran Services
IU Health Urgent Care is proud to offer convenient access to care to all of Indiana's veterans. As one of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' contracted network of community providers, five IU Health urgent care centers in central Indiana and one location in Bloomington now offer care to veterans without prior authorization.
The expanded coverage for veterans is allowed under the congressionally approved Mission Act, which allows eligible veterans to receive care from community providers outside of the VA and is aimed at making it easier for veterans who have experienced issues with scheduling appointments and receiving care in the past.

What's the difference between primary care, urgent care, and emergency care? When should I choose one instead of the other?
Primary care is comprehensive care for you and your entire family. It includes routine wellness visits, preventive care, health screenings, treatment for chronic illnesses and more. Your primary care physician provides your primary care.
Urgent care is for non-life-threatening illness or injuries. Urgent care offers short wait times so you can be in and out as quickly as possible. A team of highly skilled providers at each IU Health Urgent Care location provides your urgent care.
Emergency care is for serious, complex or life-threatening medical emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or find the nearest emergency room. To better understand which care option is best for you and your loved ones, view our symptom guide.
What insurance options do you accept?
We accept the following insurances:
- Aetna
- Anthem
- CareSource
- Cigna
- Humana
- IU Health Plans
- Managed Health Services
- Medicaid
- Medicare
- United Healthcare
Do you offer sports and camp physicals?
Our Urgent Care facilities do offer sports and camp physicals. If your school or camp requires a signature from an MD, please contact the Urgent Care to ensure an MD is available. (NOT required for IHSAA physical forms.)
Do I need to make an appointment?
In addition to simply walking in, we do offer a “Save a Spot” option that allows you to save your spot in line and decrease your wait time at the urgent care facility rather than making an appointment.
Do you accept walk-ins until closing time?
Our goal is to see patients up until closing time. However, to ensure high-quality care, walk-in patients may be limited based on availability. You can save your spot in line or use our On-Demand Virtual Visits, available 7 days a week from 6 am to 11 pm.
Is urgent care a substitute for primary care?
Urgent care is designed to supplement your primary care. Your primary care physician plays a valuable role in managing your long-term health care, while urgent care is designed to take care of your immediate and urgent medical needs.
What ages are seen at urgent care?
We see any patients 3 months and older.
How much is a typical urgent care visit?
For insured patients, we collect your deductible and/or your co-pay at the time of service, and then bill your insurer for you. After your insurer sends an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to us, IU Health Urgent Care will bill you for any balance still due. If you don’t have insurance coverage, our rates are very affordable for self-pay patients.
What if I don't have insurance?
Our rates are very affordable for self-pay patients.
How do I pay my urgent care bill?
We accept most insurance plans, cash, checks and credit cards at our urgent cares.
Visit our Pay a Bill page. If you have any questions about your bill, call us at 1.888.IUHEALTH (1.888.484.3258) Monday through Friday from 8 am – 4 pm.
