We want you to have a smooth recovery after experiencing COVID. With that said, if you or a loved one has had COVID-19, we offer expert outpatient care for you. Especially if you had a long hospital stay, returning home and getting back to normal life may be difficult.
Our team of physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech and language pathologists will work with you personally. We want to get to know you and your goals. Once we determine your goals, we'll create a specialized program to help you achieve your goals.
This program may be right for you or a loved one if you are recovering and are facing problems such as:
- Difficulty walking
- Difficulty with balance
- Difficulty carrying out your daily activities due to
- weakness and/or shortness of breath
- difficulty adapting to your environment
- Needing help learning to use adaptive equipment (such as walkers and/or bathroom equipment)
- Breathing difficulties
- Difficulty using your hands for activities such as writing or cutting food
- Vision problems
- Difficulties with thinking such as
- memory
- reasoning

- Difficulty with swallowing

- Discuss any concerns you may have
- Help you navigate any specialty care
- Provide the necessary medical support
- Review your medical and family history
Insurance
Always make sure to verify your insurance benefits and eligibility before your visit. IU Health does accept most insurance plans, but it is always better to come prepared.
Preparing for your first visit
To make the most out of your first visit, here is some helpful advice to help prepare you for your first visit.
- Bring any post-operative instructions if you’ve recently had surgery.
- Bring insurance card(s) and identification.
- Bring a list of current medications, including over-the-counter medicines.
- Wear comfortable, loose, clothing that you can move around in and allows access to injury or surgical site, if applicable.
- Arrive 30 minutes early to complete any outstanding paperwork.
In case your provider is not an IU Health provider, also please:
- Have your provider send medical records to us before your scheduled visit or bring the information with you during your visit. These may be sent via fax or through the mail.
- If you’ve had any imaging procedures such as X-ray, CT or MRI, be sure to bring reports or films with you. You may also have them sent to us by your provider.
Parking
Parking is free. Park on the west side of the building. The easiest access to the Rehabilitation department is through the main door to professional office center 1.
