Bariatric & Medical Weight Loss

Weight loss support and surgery options, tailored to your needs

At IU Health, we deliver the highest quality of care and compassion to patients who have obesity.

We offer a customized approach to surgical weight loss at the following locations:

Non-surgical medical weight loss programs are offered with our surgical programs in Lafayette and Muncie. Non-surgical medical weight loss is also available in Carmel through the medical weight loss program team.

All bariatric surgeries are performed laparoscopically (unless there is a medical reason not to do so). This means many small incisions are made instead of one large incision. This typically results in less pain, a faster recovery and less scarring.

Our team will be with you on your weight loss journey. Our experts are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care, compassion and support for you. We want to promote vital, long-term success.

Many of our surgeons are recognized as leaders and educators in the field. They have performed thousands of weight loss operations. They are published in numerous academic journals and textbooks. All staff members are committed to the science and art of caring for patients with obesity.

Bariatric surgery can be a tool used to help you achieve your weight loss goals. But pursuing surgical weight loss is not for everyone. We will give you the information you need to make the choice that is right for you.

Our services include but are not limited to:

    Additional services include:

    • Nutritional counseling
    • Fitness training
    • Support groups before and after surgery
