This includes the treatment of genetic-based heart disease and elevated lipid levels that don't respond to normal therapy.

Heart & Vascular Care Specialties

The Adult Cardiovascular Genetic Counseling Program

We provide a full range of pre-test and post-test genetic counseling services. This is for adults who have a diagnosis of, or are at risk for developing, inherited heart disease.

The Advanced Lipid Program

We are the only program in the state of Indiana focusing on familial hypercholesterolemia (FH). About 90 percent of individuals with FH in the United States are undiagnosed.

The Aortopathy Screening Program

Patients with aortic disease often need surgical repair of aneurysm. If you've been identified, we offer you an opportunity to undergo genetic evaluation for cause and hereditary risk.

Sports Cardiology

The Center for Cardiovascular Care in Athletics at IU Health offers complete sports cardiology care. This is available for athletes of all ages and skill levels. We use a Sports Cardiology Performance Lab to assess patients for possible heart disorders. We also provide information to better understand and improve an athlete’s performance.

Cardio-Oncology Care

The IU Health Cardio-Oncology Care team will help patients who are about to start treatment, have already started treatment, or are a cancer survivor monitor and manage any potential impact your cancer therapy can have on your heart.

Structural and Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Program

We provide access to specialties inside and outside of cardiology. In collaboration with Riley Children’s Health, this program provides patients with congenital heart disease a seamless continuation of care experience to help them manage their heart conditions. We are the only ACHD program in the state of Indiana recognized by the Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA).

Heart & Vascular Clinical Trials

As part of an academic health system, IU Health may have opportunity for you to participate in clinical trials. This can give you access to new treatment options that might not otherwise be available.

Carotid Stent Program

We provide extensive evaluation and treatment of occlusive carotid artery disease including transcervical carotid stenting.

Advanced Arrhythmia Ablation

We offer therapy and advanced procedures to treat cardiac arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation. These range from simple to complex in nature. Our labs feature innovative equipment. When combined with the skills of our physicians and staff, we're able to perform even the most complex ablations.

Heart & Lung Transplant

Our heart transplant and lung transplant providers treat patients with the most advanced heart and lung diseases.

Our services includes:

• Management of heart failure
• Mechanical circulatory support device (MCSD)
• Ventricular assist device (VAD) services
• Adult extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
• ExVivo lung perfusion treatment

We treat advanced conditions including:

• Pulmonary hypertension
• Advanced lung diseases
• Adult congenital heart disease

We also treat many other complex and rare cardiopulmonary conditions.

The Aortic Surgery Program

We are a full-service practice that comprises all aspects of thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA) and dissection care.

Our expertise includes:

• All open surgical procedures, including valve-sparing aortic root procedures,
• Ross procedures
• Arch replacement
• Open thoracoabdominal aneurysm repair
• Minimally invasive endovascular procedures.

We are the only heart program in the state of Indiana that offers a complete range of aortic surgical care.
