Biography

Dr. Christopher M. Hart, MD is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in pathologies of the shoulder and elbow. He has expertise in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgeries of the shoulder and elbow as well as primary and revision shoulder and elbow arthroplasty (joint replacement) surgery.

Dr. Hart was born and raised in Oregon. He attended Stanford University for college where he graduated with a degree in philosophy. Following this, he attended the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) where he obtained his medical degree and Master of Clinical Research. After medical school, he completed Orthopedic Surgery residency at UCLA and fellowship subspecialty training in shoulder and elbow reconstruction surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Hart's research focuses on treatments for diseases of the shoulder and elbow. He has received multiple awards for his research including the Jeanette Wilkins Award for the best scientific paper from the Musculoskeletal Infection Society (MSIS). During residency he completed a research fellowship with a focus on musculoskeletal and implant infections for which he received funding from the National Institute of Health (NIH). He has performed research on multiple topics related to the shoulder and elbow, including infection treatment and prevention, rotator cuff tears, shoulder arthritis, shoulder arthroplasty, elbow trauma, elbow arthritis and elbow arthroplasty. He is also the author of multiple orthopaedic book chapters.

Additionally, Dr. Hart has a strong interest in orthopaedic education. As an assistant professor in the Indiana University Department of Orthopedic Surgery, he is involved with teaching the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons techniques in shoulder and elbow surgery. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Shoulder & Elbow Society (ASES).

Dr. Hart enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons and being outdoors as often as possible.
