Biography Slice

Dr. Timmons knew she wanted to be a neurosurgeon since high school, when she became fascinated with the brain, working with her hands, and helping people who need it most. She loves getting to know her patients over the long-term and making a difference in their lives. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Timmons enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, hiking, playing piano, drawing, and writing.

Dr. Timmons earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center - Memphis, where she also earned her PhD. Dr. Timmons is a board-certified neurological surgeon, specializing in neurotrauma and neurocritical care. She became chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine in September 2019. She is the first woman to lead the department at IU Health, and only the fourth woman to serve as chair of a neurosurgical department at a U.S. medical school.
