Press Release

IU Health opening its first primary care office in Fort Wayne

July 26, 2018

INDIANAPOLIS (July 26, 2018) — Residents of the Fort Wayne area will gain a new healthcare option with the opening of the first Indiana University Health primary care office in Fort Wayne on Aug. 1.

The 10,000-square-foot office on the southwest side of Fort Wayne provides 20 exam and procedure rooms and will initially be staffed by two providers and 15 nurses, clinicians and support personnel. Additional doctors and advanced practice providers will be added in coming months as patient volumes grow. Appointments are currently being taken online for new patients.

The office supports the IU Health goal of enhancing well-being in the Fort Wayne community while meeting demand for primary care by bringing new providers into the market. Along with affording access to the highly skilled care provided at IU Health, the office will use the latest patient communication tools, including same-day appointments that can be booked with a smartphone, tablet or computer. The ground-floor office includes an in-house lab and convenient parking.

IU Health intends to establish a long-term presence in the Fort Wayne market, with plans for additional facilities that could include imaging, lab and urgent care centers. The first IU Health medical office in Fort Wayne was a Riley Children’s Health specialty pediatric clinic that opened in early 2018.

“IU Health is pleased to open our first primary care office in Fort Wayne, giving residents a new option for high-quality care,” said Ron Stiver, president of IU Health System Clinical Services. “This is an important step as we look to provide convenient access to personalized care in the second-largest city in the state.”
