IU Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Center Opens in Bloomington

July 31, 2019

"The true winners are our patients."

The IU Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Center at 2605 E. Creeks Edge Drive in Bloomington opened its doors to the public with a grand opening celebration on Saturday, June 15.

“This new center gives us the ability to provide comprehensive orthopedic care to our patients in one easy-to-access location, said Jonathan Surdam, MD, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and musculoskeletal service line medical director for IU Health Southern Indiana Physicians.

Walk In injury care, on-site imaging and physical and occupational therapy make the 39,000 square-foot center unique in the south central Region, Surdam added. Because all orthopedic providers have been brought together under one roof, patients can now be more closely monitored every step of the way, from injury or surgery to follow-up treatments and eventually to completion of the healing process.

“Our new center is a dream come true for many of us in the region,” said Brian Shockney, president of IU Health South Central Region. “It provides a one-stop-shop, bringing all of our services together with the patient in mind.

“We have a winning team of providers here,” Shockney adds, “but the true winners are our patients.”

The official grand opening provided fun for all ages with visits by Colts Player Matthias Farley, Colts Cheerleaders and Blue. Attendees also had the opportunity to zip line, rock climb, tour the facility, win prizes and see former patients take a well-deserved Victory Lap with the providers who helped them on their journeys. Walk In Hours: Monday – Thursday, 8 am – 4:30 pm; Friday 8 am – 3:30 pm
