Management Rotation Program

The Management Rotation Program at IU Health was formed in 2013 and attracts top MBA graduates by offering development opportunities through personalized rotational leadership experiences. 

In this highly competitive program, management professionals collaborate with some of the brightest minds impacting the way healthcare is delivered. 

The program aims to attract diverse skill sets, backgrounds, work experience and interests, and gives management professionals access to a variety of opportunities to learn and grow in meaningful ways.

The Management Rotation Program exposes MBA students and graduates to real initiatives impacting IU Health, and will provide the skills necessary for advancement into management and leadership roles in the healthcare industry. 

Previous program participants have worked on a variety of projects including pro forma/business case development on multi-million dollar initiatives, physician alignment strategies for the Indianapolis metropolitan region, deal development for hospital mergers and acquisitions, analysis of new government and payer rules and how IU Health operationalizes them, market research initiatives to identify emerging trends within the healthcare industry, and utilization of design thinking methodologies for care model innovation.

The Management Rotation Program at IU Health aims to balance the immediate needs and opportunities of the organization with each candidate’s capabilities, interests, and areas for development. 

Management professionals will participate in rotation planning discussions, and are encouraged to envision the full breadth of desired experiences to ensure continuous personal and professional development.

In addition to rotations, management professionals are given opportunities to develop their leadership acumen by participating in a 1-to-1 mentorship program, attending monthly leadership rounding events, or serving on the program steering committee.

Management professionals typically begin their experience with IU Health through a summer internship. This is a three-month program designed to provide exposure to the business side of a healthcare organization. 

Interns will actively manage a business case over the course of the summer and will utilize strategic thinking and innovation with key team members to arrive at possible solutions. Interns will then present final recommendations and solutions to a panel of IU Health leadership. 

At the completion of the internship, the interns may receive an offer to join the full-time Management Rotation Program.

Full-Time Program

The full-time Management Rotation Program is designed for those seeking to gain the skills needed to advance into a leadership role at IU Health. 

Management professionals in the full-time program work alongside leaders to enhance their professional development, while advancing through a series of rotations over the duration of the program. They work collaboratively across business units and departments to coordinate and lead initiatives, provide analysis, and communicate results. 

Management professionals will have the opportunity to interact with senior and executive leadership, providing broad exposure to the system and organizational structure.

Salary & Benefits

The three-month summer internship program includes a competitive salary. The full-time program compensation package includes a competitive salary, benefits, sign-on bonus, and relocation assistance.
