Below is an outline of upcoming construction activity, road and walkway impacts.
1. Closures for new hospital construction
Increased
truck traffic is expected due to concrete pours and material deliveries.
Sidewalks are closed around site perimeter. Intermittent lane impacts
anticipated along 16th St. and Capitol due to construction activities.
2. Closures for Capitol View construction
15th St.
is closed between Capitol Ave. and Byram Pl. Sidewalks are closed along the
site perimeter. Intermittent lane closures are anticipated along 14th St.
between Capitol Ave. and Byram Pl., the south side of 16th St. between Capitol
Ave. and Illinois St. and the northbound Red Line Lane along Capitol Ave.
between 16th and 14th streets. Intermittent lane restrictions are expected at
15th St. and Byram Pl. due to pavement restoration work.
3. Closures for People Mover demolition
Senate
Ave. between 12th and 16th streets is closed. 16th Street between Capitol Ave.
and Senate Blvd. is closed. Sidewalks are closed along the site perimeter.
4. Closures for IU School of Medicine construction
A permanent closure of 15th St. between Senate Ave. and just east of the
Neuroscience Center Drive is in place. Full lane closures are expected along
Lafayette St. between 16th and 14th streets and along 14th St. between Missouri
St. and Capitol Ave.
5. Central Utility Plant construction
A
sidewalk closure will be in place along Senate Ave. between 12th and 13th
streets. 13th St. between Senate Ave. and just west of the Starbucks entrance
is closed. 12th Street is closed for sanitary tap work.
6. South Support Building construction
A
sidewalk closure along Capitol Ave. between 15th and 14th streets is in place.
The new IU Health hospital in Downtown Indianapolis will combine adult services into one location with inpatient and observation beds, a full service outpatient center and a medical education building and on-site faculty offices.
