IU Health begins COVID-19 vaccines: 'Light at the end of a very long tunnel'

IU Health Neuroscience Center

IU Health took possession of the first COVID-19 vaccines in central Indiana on Wednesday, delivering a major counterpunch to the COVID-19 pandemic.

IU Health received 975 doses of the vaccine Wednesday and will get another 3,000 doses by Monday. Dr. Steven Roumpf and nurse, Joseph Majchrowicz, both emergency medicine clinicians, were the first to roll up their sleeves.

"I got invited to be a little part of history," said Dr. Roumpf. "This truly is the light at the end of a very long tunnel."
