Orthopedics
Orthopedics treats problems with bones, joints, muscles and the spine to help you return to your previous level of activity quickly and safely. Now offering virtual visits.
Ron Drahos and Timothy Steiner, MD, IU Health Southern Indiana Physicians Orthopedics & Sports Medicine surgeon, first met at Little League Baseball.
“I had no idea that he had shoulder arthritis at the time,” said Dr. Steiner. “Years later, he showed up in my office, and we diagnosed him with primary shoulder osteoarthritis.”
After a lot of thought and deliberation, they decided to go forward with shoulder replacement surgery. Ron was so happy with the outcome he decided to have his other shoulder replaced as well.
And when his wife, Hope, started having her own shoulder pain, she also put her trust in the surgeon.
“So, over a period of years, we replaced four shoulders in one married couple,” said Dr. Steiner.
The couple followed up their surgeries with physical therapy with Dr. Steiner’s orthopedics and sports medicine team. And they are thankful for every person involved in their journey.
“Before I had the surgery, I felt very limited,” said Hope. “It’s just such a wonderful feeling to be independent.”
