Fairbanks Hall

The Simulation Center at Fairbanks Hall was made possible in large part to Richard M. Fairbanks and the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation, Inc.

Mr. Fairbanks was a leader and innovator in broadcasting who owned and operated numerous radio, television and cable television systems across the nation. During his involvement with WIBC radio station In indianapolis, Mr. Fairbanks established the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network, which evolved into one of the largest radio networks in the world.

A successful and highly-regarded businessman, Mr. Fairbanks was deeply involved with professional, civic and cultural organizations. The Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation, established in 1986, supports not-for-profit organizations, programs, and projects primarily in Indianapolis.

In his later years, Mr. Fairbanks was a friend and benefactor of the Indiana University School of Medicine. He recognized the school as a source of medical innovation and as an economic engine for indianapolis and generously supported its mission.

In 2006, the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation generously contributed $6 million toward the construction of this resource center. This gift ensures that medical students and health care professionals have access to world-class educational and training facilities. Fairbanks Hall is a collaborative partnership between Indiana University Health, Indiana University School of Medicine, and Indiana University School of Nursing. Fairbanks Hall opened in August 2008.
