Physicians around the state have always been able to contact Indiana University Health to consult with, and when appropriate, refer to one of IU Health's specialists.
Members of the IU Health medical staff may apply to be part of the IU Health consultation and referral telephone lines. These include:
- IMACS OneCall, which provides referring physicians with one single telephone number to call to consult with and refer to the best IU Health specialist for their needs. Physicians may also schedule procedures or admit their patients to an IU Health facility. Most doctors who call already know who they would like to talk to; when they don't, they are asked a series of questions about their preferences and the appropriate connection is made based on those answers.
- IU Health On-Call is the consumer referral line - 800.265.3220. New Indianapolis residents and others looking for a doctor or specialist can call to receive a referral. Referrals are made based upon consumer preferences. When no preference is indicated, referrals alternate between IU School of Medicine faculty and Methodist physicians.
All IU Health active medical staff physicians who apply will be part of IMACS OneCall. They may choose to participate in IU Health On-Call or decline participation in this consumer referral line.
Signing up is easy. Physicians or their office staff may download the forms, then complete, sign and submit them via fax, mail or email. If you prefer you may call to receive a hard copy of the forms, by contacting the IMACS/IU Health On-Call Physician Data Management group at 317.963.3723 or via email at IMACSMDInfo@iuhealth.org.
