    Our Neurology & Neurosurgery Programs

Together, our teams offer comprehensive, patient centered care through a variety of programs, and treatment centers:

    Brain Health Program

This comprehensive, initiative uses high-resolution imaging and blood-based biomarker platforms to identify brain changes at the earliest stages. By integrating neurology, psychiatry, primary care and lifestyle medicine, the program delivers proactive care.

    GUIDE Program

Our Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) program streamlines access to timely diagnostic evaluations, coordinated treatment plans and essential community and social resources. Caregivers receive education, counseling and ongoing guidance.

    Comprehensive Stroke Center

Home to Indiana’s first Comprehensive Stroke Center, the IU Health Medical Center is certified by The Joint Commission with the highest and most demanding stroke designation. Our high-volume program performs nearly 200 thrombectomies each year.

    Level IV Epilepsy Center

Indiana’s only Level IV comprehensive epilepsy program designated by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC), we offer diagnostic and surgical care for complex epilepsy. This includes invasive monitoring (SEEG), advanced neuromodulation and surgical options (RNS, DBS, VNS, LITT) and magnetoencephalography (MEG) for precise, noninvasive localization.

ALS and Neuromuscular Disorders Multidisciplinary Clinic

This clinic coordinates neurology, PT/OT, speech therapy, pulmonary care, dietetics, genetics and social work, all in a single visit. We offer comprehensive, streamlined care for ALS and neuromuscular conditions, such as myotonic dystrophy.

    Neuro-Oncology Multidisciplinary Clinics

Fellowship-trained neuro oncologists, neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists and supportive care specialists deliver fully integrated and personalized care for patients with brain tumors. We offer intraoperative MRI, laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) and surgically implanted brachytherapy.

    Treatment Resistant Depression Clinic

When patients don’t see improvement after multiple antidepressant treatments, this team can provide deep brain stimulation (DBS). A participating site in the national TRANSCEND study, our clinic offers comprehensive evaluations and innovative therapies for patients with challenging forms of depression.

    Clinical Research

IU Health Medical Center is home to robust neurological and neurosurgical research. This includes the international study of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease and the Indiana Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center is one of only 33 centers in the country solely committed solely to this research.

Our wide array of studies is supported by federal grants from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), National Institute on Aging (NIA) and National Science Foundation. Learn more about our latest clinical research:
