The Cancer Center at IU Health West Hospital is offering free skin cancer screenings to help put your mind at ease or help you detect a problem at its earliest stage.
Why are skin cancer screenings important?
- Approximately 91,000 Americans will be diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer this year, including 1,900 Hoosiers.
- There are three main types of skin cancer: basal cell, squamous cell carcinomas and melanoma. Melanoma is the deadliest, but it can be highly curable when detected early.
- It is important to check any unusual blemish, mole or other marking on your skin, especially one that is new or one that has changed in size, color or shape.
