Tobacco Cessation Class - Virtual
Smoking kills more people than alcohol, AIDS, car crashes, illegal drugs, murders and suicides combined — and thousands more die from other tobacco-related causes — such as fires caused by smoking (more than 1,000 deaths/year nationwide) and smokeless tobacco use.
In Indiana, over 11,000 Hoosiers die each year from tobacco use or exposure. 1 in 5 adults smoke. Approximately 15% of pregnant women smoke. The current smoking rate of nearly 23% leaves the state ranked 44th among all states.
It is time to quit. IU Health Arnett is offering an 8-week virtual tobacco cessation group for individuals who are ready to quit tobacco. The meetings are aimed at providing support from a Tobacco Treatment Specialist combined with free nicotine replacement and the support of others dealing with the same concerns.
To register for the virtual class contact Tori Ramsey at 765.838.7758 or at tramsey1@iuhealth.org.
