Anxiety

Empowering you to live a full life and to manage your symptoms

Anxiety is a normal human emotion that can keep us motivated, focused, and prepared. For some, however, anxiety is present all or most of the time at high levels of intensity, can become debilitating, and can prevent people from doing everyday things that they need and want to do. High and chronic levels of anxiety can be accompanied by excessive worry that cannot be controlled even if the person knows that the worry is excessive.

Anxiety can also be associated with physical symptoms such as headaches, muscle tension and stomach problems.

You are not alone. Anxiety disorders affect about 40 million American adults, or 18 percent, every year, according to the National Institutes of Health. About 18 percent of teens between 13 and 18 have an anxiety disorder, and even younger children can experience significant levels of anxiety.
