Sports Rehabilitation

Heal your injury and prepare your body for the sports and activities you love

Injured athletes need to get back to more than just everyday activities. If you have a sports injury, you also need to restore the extra strength and movement your sport requires.

Sports physical therapists know the demands sports put on your body. They will help your muscles and joints heal so you can start competing again.

Sports rehabilitation treats acute and chronic injuries for both athletes and non-athletes. Your treatment team may consist of certified sports medicine therapists and certified orthopedic clinical specialists. Other physical therapists with experience in sport specific injuries may help as well.

Your Sports Injury Treatment Plan

To make a plan, your therapist will take many items into consideration:

  • Your unique body mechanics
  • The type and severity of your injury
  • The requirements of your sport

We'll build a plan for you. It'll be based in biomechanics and sports rehabilitative medicine.

Sports physical therapy includes specially designed rehab exercises. These exercises will strengthen and heal your muscles and joints. Your sports physical therapist will also focus on helping you avoid re-injury. Re-injury can happen if you return to your sport too soon or have poor body mechanics.

Sports Physical Therapy Tools

Your treatment team will use a number of tools to get your body back into working order.

Biomechanical evaluation

This exam will help us understand how your injury happened and what movement patterns could cause another injury in the future.

ASTYM Therapy

If you have previous injuries or scar tissue that causes you pain when you move, your therapist may recommend a soft tissue therapy called ASTYM. Your soft tissues include muscles, ligaments and tendons, which can be regenerated to restore movement and reduce scar tissue.

Post Injury Adult Sports Motion Analysis

Motion analysis is a technology used after rehabilitation to verify if you’re able to return to your sport. It identifies if you’re compensating for your injury. It also analyzes if you’ve developed abnormal movement that puts you at risk for re-injury.
