Biography
Dr. Brandon Brown is a fetal and pediatric radiologist, focusing his care on imaging for the perinatal period. Dr. Brown is a member of the Fetal Committee for the Society for Pediatric Radiology.
His clinical work is at the intersection of several areas of medicine, and he is a member of the Departments of Radiology, Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology. He serves as Director of Fetal and Perinatal Imaging for IU Health Physicians and is a founding executive committee member of the Fetal Center at Riley Children's Health.
Dr. Brown's clinical work aligns with his research, which focuses on advanced imaging techniques to diagnose and counsel families with high-risk pregnancies and complex congenital anomalies. He is active in research on the human placenta, focusing on placental blood flow and its relationship to fetal abnormalities.
In 2005, he served as a graduate research fellow for the Indiana University Center for Bioethics. He is a member of the Section on Bioethics for the American Academy of Pediatrics, serves as former chair of Professionalism for the Society for Pediatric Radiology, and is the current chair of Professionalism for the Radiologic Society of North America. He has taught medical ethics and humanities for the School of Medicine since 2014, and also taught bioethics at Butler University in Indianapolis for 6 years. He has won each of the top awards in his department for teaching. He has also won the Trustee Teaching Award and the Exemplar of Professionalism Award from the School of Medicine. He was the Berlin Scholar in Medical Professionalism.
Dr. Brown is the first Vice-Chair for Professional Development, Diversity and Wellness in the Radiology and Imaging Science department.
Dr. Brown's varied work in fetal medicine, perinatal imaging, medical ethics, and professionalism combine to allow him to merge the clinical, research and educational missions of academic medicine.
