Biography
Dr. Caroline M. Funkhouser, PT, DPT, is a dedicated physical therapist specializing in oncology and orthopedics. She is committed to creating individualized treatment plans that meet patients where they are and focus on what is most important to them. Her goal is to help patients return to or exceed their baseline level of function.
Dr. Funkhouser provides tailored exercises to improve muscle strength and joint flexibility, along with programs designed to enhance stability and overall endurance. She offers comprehensive education on lymphedema and vigilant monitoring for post-operative symptoms. Her expertise includes strength and mobility training to facilitate normal movement patterns and return to daily activities after tumor resections or radiation therapy. She also focuses on functional endurance and strength training to alleviate cancer-related fatigue before, during and after chemotherapy. Additionally, she combines manual therapy techniques with balance and stabilization exercises to reduce fall risks, especially for patients with chemo-induced peripheral neuropathy.
Outside of work, Caroline enjoys hiking, running and spending time with her golden retriever, Oliver. Together, they aspire to incorporate animal-assisted therapy into her practice, bringing new and fun approaches to physical therapy.
