Biography
Christy DiPerna, PT, DPT, CCS, is a board-certified specialist in cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy. Christy completed her undergraduate studies at Indiana University, then attended the University of Maryland-Baltimore, where she obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
Christy has 20 years of experience in physical therapy, working across multiple settings including acute care and outpatient rehabilitation. Christy specializes in the treatment of cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions, including (but not limited to):
- Lung transplant
- End-stage lung disease
- Heart transplant
- Heart failure
- Post-intensive care syndrome
- Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD)
Christy works on a variety of treatments with her patients to facilitate their recovery, and some of those include:
- Balance retraining
- Posture retraining
- Functional mobility/functional transfer training
- Breathing retraining
- Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization
- Education to prepare patients to live independently and maintain their function
Christy’s favorite thing about working with the cardiovascular and pulmonary population is enabling her patients to regain their functional lives after major surgery or hospitalizations.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, exercising and reading.
