Biography
JoAnn Fluent-Peistrup is a certified nurse-midwife who specializes in women’s health care from adolescence through menopause, with a special focus on pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
JoAnn received her nurse-midwifery education through SUNY Downstate Health Sciences Center in 1995 and received a Master’s in Midwifery from Philadelphia University in 2000. She is board-certified through the American Midwifery Certification Board and has been a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives since 1995.
JoAnn began her career as a nurse-midwife in her home state of Ohio. Mid-career she moved to Greenville, SC, to lead the start-up of a midwifery practice in the Greenville Health system. After that she moved to Nashville, TN, where she was part of the faculty practices of the Vanderbilt Schools of Nursing and Medicine. In April 2020, she joined IU Health as one of 4 certified nurse-midwives in a newly established midwifery practice, IUHP Midwifery.
JoAnn lives in the Broad Ripple area of Indianapolis with her husband, Geoff, and their 2 dogs. In her free time she enjoys walking, cycling, gardening, live music, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her grown children and grandchildren who live close by in Cincinnati, Ohio.
