Biography
Dr. Kayleigh Avery is a physician specializing in neurodevelopmental disabilities and child neurology. She practices in developmental medicine with IU Health and has a particular interest in caring for individuals with down syndrome. Her personal connection to the down syndrome community, through a sibling with down syndrome and autism, played an important role in inspiring her career in medicine and her dedication to caring for children with neurodevelopmental differences.
Dr. Avery is also part of the Neuro NICU Program, where she cares for newborns and infants at increased risk for neurologic and developmental challenges. She is passionate about supporting children and families through early evaluation, diagnosis and intervention and strives to provide individualized, family-centered care that recognizes each child’s unique strengths and needs.
She believes that families are essential partners in their child’s care and values taking the time to listen to their concerns, goals and priorities. Her goal is to help families better understand their child’s development and neurologic health while providing thoughtful, evidence-based care and support throughout childhood.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Avery enjoys gardening, caring for her ever-growing collection of houseplants and baking. She finds joy in the patience and creativity these hobbies require and enjoys sharing what she grows and bakes with family and friends.
