Biography
Kelly Kean is a family nurse practitioner who currently sees patients through Path4You, Indiana's statewide contraception access project, as well as at a free clinic in Westfield. After completing her BSN, she worked in neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care and pediatric cardio-thoracic intensive care at the University of Michigan Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. Kelly earned her MS as a family nurse practitioner at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and stayed on as a Rackham Merit Fellow to earn a PhD in Women's Health. Before Path4You, she worked with Pediatric Surgery at University of Michigan and at Planned Parenthood. She is a full time faculty member at the IU School of Nursing where she works with graduate students and pursues her research interests. Kelly uses a narrative approach in her patient care, teaching and research. She believes that stories hold significant power. By assisting individuals in disscussing their experiences, educating students to attentively listen to patients' narratives and utilizing research to shape these stories, she sees an amazing potential to enhance healthcare.
